I'm having problems hooking up my VOX Amplug (for guitar to my CD player?
Hi, I have the AC30 Amplug and I wanted to hook it up to my Kenwood Cd player (from the early 90s)....to play along with my practice CDs. I'm using a 1/8 + RCA plug and tried hooking it up to both the Receiver and also CD player itself - I just get one loud volume level that I can't adjust (CD volume), which makes it unbearable to hear through headphones with the Vox. I think I've tried about every input/output permutation, and still can't get a good mix.
The reason I got the Vox was to jam along with my CDs. What am I doing wrong? Do I need a 1/4 or 1/8 cord to hook directly up the the phones? (Vox aux to the phonejack on stereo)
Thanks for you time
Erix
well I have a 1/4 inch female adapter for the 1/8 head.
also THE selling point of the Vox is "You can hook up your cd player or mp3 player and jam along.
The Vox has an aux out as well as a headphone out.
Hello Erix; I think you may have purchased something you don't want. The VOX unplug is a device that plugs into your ax and drives your headphones so you kin play @ 2 am and not wake Granny. If I understand yer Q correctly, you want to hear your CD thru yer amp. This requires a simple connection from yer CD or RCVR outputs (Line level - "TAPE OUT" , NOT SPEAKER !!! outputs.) to yer B input on yer head. Sorry, gonna have to skimp on stereo unless ya have 2 heads. This requires RCA to 1/4" phone Jax.
Playing yer guitar while mixing it with yer CD on yer stereo is very involved and beyond the capabilities of any receiver I can think of. You would be able to plug the VOX into unused inputs (TAPE 2) on yer receiver, but you would not hear the CD.
My Best Advice : Sell yer VOX and use the loot to buy an RCA to 1/4" phone cable. (or 2 and a second head)
