The Latrells Latest Album 'Still Love You' Rides The Soul Train From San Francisco To Motown
The Latrells are a San Francisco-based, psychedelic soul band flavored with pop, hip-hop, R&B and rock. Influences include Motown greats - The Temptations and The Jackson 5, as wellCurtiss Mayfield, A Tribe Called Quest, Sly & The Family Stone, Outkast, N.E.R.D., Dusty Springfield, The Kinks, and anything on the Stax/Volt record label.
With tight, contemporary harmonies in the foreground, Carmine, Chemo, Brockington, P.J., Xandine, and the rest of the gang focus on great songs that pay homage to groups like Booker T. & The M.G.'s, The Meters, The Funk Brothers, The Zombies & The Roots.

...taking on the same pseudonym for their surnames shows the commitment and loyalty that’s contained within this band who treat themselves as a musical family...they’ve got a substantial fan base of dedicated followers and the album is expected to do very well off the back of their live performances. The Latrells will be around to stay, and for good reason.'
[Oliver Springate]
After taking a large hit of psychedelia backed with a sweet pop chaser, the San Francisco trio known as The Latrells were united under a simple soulful agreement, keep it groovy, moody and it gotta take us higher.
With that said vocalist Carmine Latrell, bassist Chemo Latrell and singing guitarist/producer Brockington Latrell supported their critically acclaimed debut album Out the Box with a string of frenetic live shows. [ Athan Maroulis ]
Soon after, armed with a dozen improvised rhythm tracks, they set about finding the right singer. Wilcox had an inkling of vocalist Andre Jones' full potential from their days in Extinguisher, a hip-hop project. Manning the mic as Carmine Latrell, Jones is a force of nature, dodging and burning rope-a-dope rhymes with his mellifluous tenor. With the addition of Jones’ smooth vocals to Wilcox's nimble guitar work and gristly baritone, and Gallegos' slipknot bass lines, the Latrells had found their sound.
Underneath the "Soul Man" swagger was something fragile and haunting, like a smile from a stranger on the 22 Fillmore.

Capiche?
Alternative, experimental, psychedelic, instrumental hip hop from San Francisco.
It was a great year for Pacific Soul Records, Producer Xraydusa released his hip hop instrumental debut, Capiche?
:: reviews ::
Xraydusa likes to mess with his listeners a bit. He gets you comfortable with a beat, then abruptly breaks it. This is sometimes accompanied by vocals sluiced through a vocoder or even a baby crying. It's kind of like having your love handles grabbed--a little abrupt, but still fun.
I have to give props to DJs who aren’t afraid to get a little silly. Xraydusa has the balls to throw in a sample of Hello Dolly! on "In my Suite." There are many other little surprises like this. You're allowed to chill to this album, but you've got to pay attention a bit.
Capiche? is at turns accidental, funky, and freaky. We need more DJ's that aren't afraid to step out and risk a little. Xraydusa is one to keep your eyeball on. Capiche?

“Congratulations on GrIndie Award”
RadioIndy is proud to present Xraydusa a GrIndie Award for their CD "Capiche?." A GrIndie Award is RadioIndy's stamp of approval that this CD is an excellent quality CD. Please join us in congratulating this artist on this accomplishment.
"Capiche?" by Xraydusa plays upon the strings of the subconscious conjuring up the abstract, the groovy, and the downright trippy elements of the listener's inner workings. It is a methodically mad but effective instrumental arrangement of half hip-hop, half 70's funk beats, random noises, live instruments, DJ scratching, and an occasional mix of something that smacks of tribal influence.”
“All in all, "Capiche?" is a funky, flamboyant delight for fans of multiple genres--from psychedelic to funk to hip-hop.”
