Good effects pedals for a wide range of music?
I've been playing guitar for quite a while now and haven't had the money until recently to buy some good pedals.
I play a wide range of music everything from metal to reggae to classic rock.
I already own a wah pedal, so other than that I'm looking for a good 5 or 6 pedals that you would recommend.
a couple of major pedals i would recommend would be :
A tuner pedal :
you defiantly need a tuner and a stomp box pedal tuner is the best way to go as it makes it easier to tune while playing you can get either the boss TU 2 - http://www.bossus.com/gear/productdetails.php?ProductId=122 or the korg Pitch black - http://www.korg.com/Product.aspx?pd=295 both are good.
A EQ:
getting an equalizer helps you get the exact sounds you want coming from your guitar, picking out the frequency's as and how you want to keep them for this i'd recommend the Boss GE 7 - http://www.bossus.com/gear/productdetails.php?ProductId=144 it's one of the best out there.
A compression pedal:
a compression pedal compresses louder signals while boosting lower signals, providing smooth sustain which can improve guitar riffs for this i'd recommend the Boss CS 3 - http://www.bossus.com/gear/productdetails.php?ProductId=148. i have this and would recommend it.
A distortion Pedal:
depends what your after, all around boss do some of the best distortion pedals out there. for a nice but not to heavy distortion go for the boss DS 1 - http://www.bossus.com/gear/productdetails.php?ProductId=127 it's one of the most popular ones. for a distortion that mimics the tube amps go for the Boss BD 2 blues driver - http://www.bossus.com/gear/productdetails.php?ProductId=126 this is the one i currently use, it has a great tube sound for one similar to this try the Ibanez tube screamer - http://www.ibanez.com/Electronics/model-TS9DX and for metal distortion go for the boss ML-2 Metal core http://www.bossus.com/gear/productdetails.php?ProductId=851.
this is all i can recommend. with pedals though you do have to see what you want, some pedals may suit you but not other people. the above is just a recommendations but please try the pedals out be for you buy them to make sure there right for you. hope this helps.
