Why doesn't the US reject the IAU's ruling and recognize and acknowledge Pluto's full planethood?
In light of the answers I have been getting regarding questions about nautical miles and twenty-four clocks it seems to me that every sovereignty on this planet has the option to accept or reject an internationally set standard.
For example the US has rejected conversion to the metric system and since we're the big kids on the block we can make it stick.
Alright then; Problem solved.
The PLANET Pluto; (I wanna put my personal emphesis on the high esteem in which I regard Pluto) Since the planet Pluto was discovered by an American astronomer, Clyde Tombaugh. It would be in keeping with our patriotic spirit and national pride that Pluto remain a full fledged planet and honored member in good standing of our solar system. I say the US has the option to regard Pluto as a planet and let the IAU go pound sand up their @$$'s.
