Is this a good Distortion pedal?

I was planning on buying this distortion pedal for my band and I'm wondering if it's a good one. There are a few good reviews on the website, but I'm curious if anyone has used it and likes it.
Or if it sucks and I shouldn't get it.

Two people I know have that exact distortion pedal. First was in a band I was in and he liked it and it had a heavy sound for Death Metal. The other is the music-store salesman that I buy all of my gear from and he had one and said it was great for practically any metal-sound, especially if you hook it up to a bass amp.
The band I was in was a Death/Thrash Metal band btw, and we had a decent sound using it ( i was only the bassist though).
