What kind of Effect Pedal should I get for my guitar?
What kind of Effect Pedals should I get for my guitar? I have been playing for almost a year now and I have a Squier by Fender Affinity Series Telecaster and the amp I have is a 120W 2x12 Crate combo amp and I'm the lead guitarist for my youth praise team.
Hello, Zack! If you are just beginning to understand effect pedals (see http://howard.davis2.home.att.net/HowEffectsWork.htm for a primer), I would recommend purchasing a pre-owned multi-effects unit, like the Digitech, Boss, or Zoom models. Craig's List (see http://sfbay.craigslist.org/ , and select your city/state/country) or eBay (see http://shop.ebay.com/?_from=R40&_trksid=p3907.m38.l1313&_nkw=multi-effect+guitar+pedal&_sacat=See-All-Categories ) are both excellent sources. Without spending a lot of money, you can focus in on what effects really work for your style and type of music. Before you buy, check out the user reviews at Harmony Central (see http://reviews.harmony-central.com/reviews/Effects ) and current prices on sites like Guitar Center (see http://www.guitarcenter.com ) and Musician's Friend (see http://www.musiciansfriend.com ). Never pay more than 70% of retail for a pre-owned unit, no matter how little use it has sustained. Best regards, Dana
