Help understanding guitar cabinet and head hook up?
I just bought a Crate G412SL, rated at 100W. I also just ordered a Hughes and Kettner Switchblade, which outputs 100W.
I have a few questions.
First, I couldn't find the Ohm rating for that cabinet anywhere. Does anyone know it?
Second, depending if the cabinet is 4 or 8 Ohm, I would like to get a second cabinet, specifically a Hughes and Kettner MATRIXSC412A cabinet, which is rated at 240W and 8 Ohms mono, 2x4 Ohms stereo. So would it be smart to keep both cabinets? Or would the crate cabinet really not be able to keep up with the H&K?
Im hoping that the crate amp is 8 ohms, so that I can use both of them in parallel or series, unless that would overheat the amp? I'm not exactly sure about this stuff really. I just have a basic understanding that you can't run the amp into a lower ohm rating that the amp says, and that 2x8 ohm cabinets equal a 4 Ohm load.
I would just like to know about the most productive setup between these 2 cabinets and the head.
They're 8 Ohms. Funny I came across this, I just bought four of these last week from an online close-out sale, got them for $135 ea. (they're discontinued).
