Will distortion pedals work well on digital amps?
I have a digital amp (Ibanez Mimx), and I want to know whether or not a distortion pedal would just as well on it than a analog amp. Specifically, I want to if the Jemini Pedal (Steve Vai) would work well. If you have any info please tell me, don't just say "try it for yourself" because i don't have money to be throwing around like that.
in my experience no, they dont sound quite right. there ends up being too much signal processing and the sound kinda gets a bit too unnatural. saying that, if you were to play it live in your in your bedroom it will sound good, and gives you the chance to to make a very unique sound.
if you wanted to record it however, then perhaps use something else.
