sorry im a total noob andi have just bought a cheap guitar , and i wanna know do distortion pedals replace the multi effects devices? i just wanna here that thick guitar sound and the other soft rock sound , please help me

Welcome to the fraternity of guitar players.
No you do not need a multi effects pedal. I don't like them. I too often one of the effects is not exactly the sound I want. I prefer to use my own mix of pedals, I get the distrotion I want from the distortion pedal I select, the delay from the delay pedal I chose and so on. I really do not care for the multi effects pedals. You are stuck with what someone else thinks you should play.
If you need a basic distortion pedal, try the Boss DS-1. Good basic distortion pedal. Not expensive. Easy to use. You can sometimes find them on eBay selling used for less than $20.

If your amp does not have a reverb, I would suggest getting a reverb pedal. Danelectro makes a decent inexpensiive one. Sells used on eBay for $15, new $30.
