Are there any benefits to using the Over Drive button when slowing down in an Automatic Transmission car?
I only press the button to slow the car down. During other times the over drive is not used.
Or does this cause damage to the car, when being used?

To clarify. I drive in OD all the time in a Ford Explorer, and I click it off when I want to slow down. What should I be doing?
Using the over drive when towing something will help keep you from having to use the brakes so much, which in return will keep your brakes from getting hot. Using the OD button will not hurt the Trans. It will hurt your gas mileage.
