Is a guitar pedal board necessary?
I wanna get some pedals for my guitar and I was just wondering if a pedal board is necessary. If it is does anyone know how to make a homemade one?
The benefit of a pedalboard is simple - increased organization and simplified power supply.
Let's say you have 6 pedals and your band gets a gig. You have to fit your 6 pedals in a backpack or something, triple-check to make sure you have all of your cables, and let''s not forget the batteries...
Now imagine if you had a way to keep all of those pedals together (no lost pedals), keep all the cables connected (no lost cables), and power them all at the same time (no dead batteries, no lost wall warts) - doesn't that sound like a good thing?
Furman and some other companies make them for you, at outrageous prices... you can handmake your own, depending on how you do it.
I've used a sawed off piece of 2x4 (4x4? don't remember) with a few screws and some plumbers tape (plastic strip with holes in it) to secure pedals... Boss makes a wall wart with a daisy-chain attachment that can power something like 8 pedals... that might be something to look into.
How about a sheet of canvas, some super glue or sewing, some velcro, an extension cord, and a daisy-chainable wall wart? Home made pedal board, one that can be rolled up!
