What Seymour Duncan pickup goes well with Invader SH-8's?
I have an Ibanez RG370DXL and I was after some new pickups seeing as one of the original ones has blown. I was going to get two Invaders for the bridge and the neck but there is a single coil pickup in the middle. I have contacted Seymour Duncan about what they would recomend and they came back and said Hot Rails. However its a rail pickup and I was just wondering if these two different looking pickups would go well together eg: a twelve dotted humbucker and a twin rail single coil. Please get back soon!
A Hot Rails neck position pickup would go well in the middle position of your RG. However, if you didn't like the aesthetics of a Rails pickup sandwiched between two Invaders, you can always go for a high-output six pole piece single coil. If you're looking for a real single coil, I'd recommend the SSL-4 Quarter Pound. If 60-cycle hum gets you down and you want something with poles that is also hum-canceling, I'd recommend the STK-S7 Vintage Hot Stack Plus or if you want even more output the STK-S9 Hot Stack Plus. Keep in mind, you'll pay more for the Stack Plus than the Quarter Pound.
Good luck with your Tone Quest.
