How to Create a Lifespace Vision Board – Coordinating Furniture & Accessorizing your Space!
During the month of June, we introduced the first three phases of the Lifespace Vision Plan in creating an ambience, room design theme and color scheme. If you've decided on a lifespace theme and colors, you are prepared to enter the next two phases of the Vision Plan with furniture coordination and accenting with accessories.
PHASE 4 – Furniture Coordination
There are important considerations for selecting furniture:
Your room's theme will dictate the design direction for selecting furnishings. Let's say your theme is Asian. When selecting furnishings that properly co-exist with Asian, consider design compatibility in furniture style (Country, French, Contemporary, Antique, etc.) scale (size), finish (wood, veneer, glass, synthetic, etc.), wood grain (oak, cherry, mahogany, etc.) form (simplicity, massive, curves, straight lines) and upholstery fabric (color, texture and pattern). These are guidelines that can be applied to any theme that you choose.
Your room's color is one of the single most important element in choosing furniture. Upholstered pieces can represent predominant or accents hues of your color scheme in solids and patterns. Furniture pieces you plan to retain will be a determining factor in the types of new furniture you choose to integrate into your decor. Guidelines that were defined for coordinating furniture with your room's theme will also apply to introducing new pieces with any existing furniture.
PHASE 5 – Accessorizing your Space
Accessories place a "signature stamp" on the design of your lifespace as a personalized element in the total design concept. How one accessorizes their home often tells the life story of its occupants. For instance, a room display of object d' art can denote places members have traveled. Family legacy will echo symbolism in heirloom and other antiquities handed down through the ages. Imprints of life's journey resonate in photos, while furniture making, quilting, painting and other personal hobbies take center focus as they accentuate a scheme. Accessories can be selected to reflect an individuality that is only unique to its lifespace members – express yourself!
While individualism is clearly an important element in accentuating your lifespace, design principles are to be thoughtfully integrated into the scheme of things. Mixing and matching styles is permissible while keeping in mind there is a common denominator as that of a designated theme and color scheme to guide you in choosing accessories that enhance and summarize your total design concept.
Your accessories can pull your design theme together when reflected in art pieces throughout the room. As an idea for thought - if you have an ethnic theme try displaying indigenous pottery, tribal fabrics, rugs and other accents that are symbolically representative of the theme.
Color is a fun and playful element so be daring, adventurous and carefree in creating unique and surprising effects! Feature pillows, vases, candle holders, carpets and other forms of accessories in your color scheme and marry them up in solids, prints and patterns to create character and interest. The juxtaposition of colors used throughout your space will create design unity.
Accessorizing with your "nature element" takes personalizing your lifespace a step further. Your "nature element" can be revealed through accessories that reflect its symbolism in nature, color, pattern, form and textures. As an example, if your nature element is water – the color that represents this element is blue, ambience is calming, furniture is translucent and accents denote sea shells, rocks, sand, waterfalls. Using a space in a batch variable?
I am going to use spaces withing variables in a batch files. The problem is that while using "if" statements, I get an error and the cmd will crash. Let's say the contents of the batch were:
set a= a
if '%a%' == ' a' goto yes
:no
echo no
pause
exit
:yes
echo yes
pause
I will get the result:
a' was unexpected at this time
Is there any way to work around this?
I think you want set a=" a"
