Stereoscopic Visual Stimulators Invokes Hypersensory Perception
Electronic devices that use light impulses to promote transcendental meditative states have been around for a long time. Multiple Sclerosis without parasthesia (numbness/tingling)?
I have some weird neurological symptoms which I am trying to get a diagnosis on .
I get a lot of visual disturbances that sound like an ocular migraine, such as: occasional sparkles of light; streaky vision (esp in high contrast environments); every once in a while I will see a flash in the same spot of the same eye which holds the same shape (an after image type spot, like if you look at the sun). I have seen an ophthalmologist who saw nothing wrong and said it could be gel tugging on my retina.
As for other symptoms. I sometimes have a heightened sense of smell. Memory lapses. Muddled thinking. Mood problems. Heat sensitivity (makes me worthless). Upon waking I feel clumsy for quite some time. Knee will give out slightly when walking. The only numbness/tingling I get is in my index finger of my left hand, but really not often.
Does any of this sound familiar to you?
Yes, some of them do. I had optic neuritis though and I went blind in my left eye a couple of times as well. But I never have had a heightened sense of smell nor have I heard of anyone with MS having that symptom.
The symptoms of MS mimic about 24 to 30 other conditions. As a consequence the disease can never be diagnosed by symptoms alone. A good neurologist can eliminate some of the conditions and diseases through some basic testing. An MRI would be needed to see if the tell-tale lesions indicative of MS are present. Some neurologists also do a lumbar puncture. It can take time for diagnosis though since MS is generally relapsing/remitting. Good luck to you!
