Vintage Style Clothing is Hot This Season
Vintage is in this season. After a few seasons of being a niche market trend that only hipsters and the people who actively rejected all fashions trends were into, the subversive vintage clothing movement has been subverted in a way itself by becoming a fashion trend that is hot this season. What started out as a statement by young people and the hipsters who were against the trendiness of the fashion world by wearing old and worn clothing has now become a trend itself.
Vintage style clothing was first the kind of clothes that people would look for at the back of their parents wardrobes or even in their grandparents attics and basements. Later on as the trend got more popular they would scour endless garage sales for items of vintage clothing like dresses and such. As the trend got more popular and people realised the demand that was growing for vintage clothing, the sale of such pieces and outfits moved from garage sales to trendy shops and boutiques that stocked and sold only vintage outfits and this broadened the appeal of the vintage clothing movement. Now one could wear the kind of clothes that all the hipsters seemed to be wearing without actually having to look around in smelly attics or peer through huge piles of junk that nobody wanted in garage sales while looking for that one perfect item. You could now buy these clothes that had been scouted out and browse them on a rack. The one of a kind pieces could now be bought in a high end store or a boutique just like new clothes.
The next step towards mainstream acceptance and the rising popularity of vintage style clothing came when the demand for these outfits started to outstrip supply. At first people started making their own fake vintage clothing by sating brand new dresses with tea and by rubbing and repeatedly washing velvets, lace and velour fabrics to give them that threadbare appearance. This process was soon copied by companies and manufacturers and done on a large scale to satisfy the demand from people who did not have the time, the energy and the inclination to make their own clothing.
The result now is that all the major designers and clothing labels have lines of great vintage style clothes in all the sizes and you can buy brand new authentic looking vintage dresses and outfits at your favourite designer store anywhere in the world, such is the popularity of the vintage clothing movement.
