The Best Strat Pickups - Fender Custom Shop Texas Special
What are the best strat pickups available? Of course the answer can be different depending on your style and needs. But Fender Stratocasters, while versatile, are also know for a very specific "classic" tone. But depending on the make and model of your strat, you may want to upgrade the pickups for better tone and response.
I was lucky enough to literally stumble upon the Fender Custom Shop Texas Special Strat Pickups pickups when I purchased my first American strat, a 97 Texas Special, used from a shop in Portland Oregon. I had tried a few other Strats, but this one stood out above the rest. I could immediately identify the "Stevie Ray Vaughn" screaming blues tone, but that was only the beginning.
After taking it home and getting a bit more familiar with the different pickup settings, I was able to achieve such a wide range of tones! The twangy bridge pickup is great clean for some Albert Lee or James Burton style chicken-pickin' country tone. But after watching some of my favotire local jazz players, I was able to emulate a more crunchy, biting tone with the same bridge pickup setting, the treble turned down a bit on my fender hotrod, and a little gain.
For a vintage, funky jazz-box tone, you can use the neck pickup with the tone knob turned down to about 3-4, and even thrown in a dash of gain or a mid wah setting.
Time and time again you will hear the Fender Custom Shop Texas Special Strat Pickups pickups in action both live and on classic albums. I highly suggest getting a set to try out in your strat if you're looking to upgrade your tone. The Texas Specials really are the best strat pickups available.

which Wah pedal should I get for my 1995 Gibson Melody Maker?
I want a wah pedal but I don't know which one I should get. I play a 1965 Gibson Melody Maker all original except the pickup. the pickup is off a vintage strat so it still has the warm vintage tone as the stock pickup. the body and neck are mahogany so it has a very warm tone. I use a 1965 univox tube amp (not sure the wattage) and a 50 watt (maybe) line6 amp.
I hope this is enough info
Look into a Vox, I've always been a big fan of their Wah's and Volume pedals.
