Help choosing distortion pedals?
I'm in the market for some distortion pedals. I'm relying most of my tone from the pedals so I've decided to get maybe 4 or 5 pedals with ascending gain levels. So I just need some advice, so far I've decided on the voodoo labs sparkle drive because you can mix it with your clean signal meaning I'd have a very small amount of gain. I like tube distortion that you normally get from tube amps but I dislike the hassel of them. For those of you that are gonna say get modeling or multi-FX I don't like them. So I think I'm gonna go for some tubed distortion pedals. If anyone has anything to say against that I'm open to listen. Also I'm leaning towards getting a rat pedal too.
the most popular ones are the boss blues driver,soft distortion
and the ts 9 tube screamer from ibanez. you can get a tube pre amp and that will help the tone on all you pedals across the board.the ones you mentioned are good too.i worked in the music stores for sam ash and brook mays music. these are or were the most sold. do NOT buy the cheap DS! pedal. the tone realy sucks and you loose too much of the guitar tone.its horrible.i normaly use BOSS exclusively but i wont use that one.
i hate those multi effect pedals too. who the hll has time to remember all those banks and patches dureing a solo.who ever invented that wasnt a musian,he was a marketing expert,kids love um !
