Which Delay Pedal Should I Buy?
I just got a big chunk of change for my birthday and I'm lookin' to spice up my guitar playing. I'm looking at these pedals in particular:
Joe Satriani Vox Time Machine
Empress Vintage Modified Superdelay
The Empress is about $300 more than the Time Machine, but it has two key features that I want:
Looping
Reverse Echo Delay
(also, 8 presets)
Also considering:
Keeley 4 Knob Compressor
The Vox Time Machine is one of the best. For 'boutique' delays and loopers, there's a lot of choices.. Personally, I'd get a regular Ibanez DE-7, or Boss DM-2 stomp-box. Then you could have cash to also get -maybe 2- loop pedals, and a Compression unit. Lexicon is the truest delay I've heard. Electro-Harmonix also pro. A lot of 'tone' players like the Roland Space Echo/Delay; can also get that old Revox tape sound well. The Seymour-Duncan SFX-10 Deja-Vu supposed to be excellent. Maybe compare the Vox unit to a tcElectronics ND-1 Nova ($250), they're an 'industry standard'. Great also is the T-Rex Replica Delay($400), and Plush Co. REP-3 Delay ($350), Plush Replay Tube Delay ($650)/ or Eventide H-3000 Band Delay for ProTools (with outboard expression pedal)
