What's the best guitar for me?
I have been in the market to upgrade to a new guitar for a while now, i currently use a 1999 fender squier and i'm looking for something at the next level. I play a lot of hard rock, hardcore, punk, screamo type music. And i need something great for both playing live and for recording. I have been looking at Schecter Hellraiser/C-1, Ibanez S Series, and am also thinking about a Gibson Les Paul Studio faded. But i have no idea what would be best for me, i have played all of them and like all of them. I have a price limit of about $800 its a little flexible. If you have any other suggestions that would be great too! And I want something that will work well with my current setup but dont know how much that will affect the guitar choices out there for me. Anyway i use a GF-X-212 200w Crate amp, a RP300A digitech pedal board, and a Cry Baby 535Q wah pedal. Thank you for all input and opinions!
Only you can decide which guitar is best for you. And you've done the right thing by playing all of them.
Any of these will be a step up from a Squier, which are horrible guitars. (I had one, I know.) Maybe you should consider a real Strat; it would be the easiest transition. The other guitars will sound, feel, and act differently, so differently that you might not be happy with them.
Whatever you do, buy a good used guitar; your money goes a lot further than buying new. Unless you never play it, it's gonna get a few dings on it and not be mint condition a year afterward, so don't get hung up on buying a brand-new pretty guitar. I'd pick the guitar that plays well over the cosmetically-perfect one every time.
Maybe instead of trying to pick one, pick the first one you want and figure on getting others later. That is the reality of guitar playing: you're gonna want a strat style guitar, a paul, an acoustic, a jazz archtop, etc... so pick one, enjoy it, and start saving for the next one
Or for a nice tube amp, which is to a Crate what a real Strat is to a Squire.
