wah wah pedal question?
I have a dunlop cry baby and it sounds ok, lots of people swear by them but I'm looking for a lot of range from low to high. When I put it after my effects I got lots of high but no volume on low, when I put it before my effects I get next to no range. What's a good wah that suits my needs and is reasonable priced or how can I get a good sound from this wah?
I agree, I also think the original Cry Baby is a bit too "subtle" sounding for my taste. This model however is faithful to the original wah sound from the 60's, and there's definitely a market for that. But there are quite a few different types of Dunlop Wah units that offer a more modern sound:

If you have the ability to try any of them out in a guitar shop, I'm sure you'd find one that suits the style of music you want to make very well. Or type in the name of any wah unit (doesn't have to be the Dunlop brand of course) on YouTube, and you'll usually find a video that gives you a good idea of what it sounds like and how it functions. Personally, I use the Dunlop Crybaby 535Q on my board, I think it's a great wah, it really lets you dial in the perfect sound:

Wahs are commonly placed near the beginning of your effects chain in front of the dirt boxes, otherwise the sound tends to become a bit too shrill. But everybody's different, the point is to find something that sounds good to you.
